Guide Profiles

If you are looking to really experience the backcountry mountains and riding areas that West Yellowstone has to offer, our guide service is perfect. Ace Powder Guides is the longest serving backcountry guide service in West Yellowstone. Our guides are experienced backcountry riders, who have set the standards and rules for backcountry guiding. We provide you with your avalanche gear as part of the guide price, will teach you about avalanche danger, using beacons and get you to the good stuff. Our guides are the first in the lower 48 states to take and pass a Level 2 avalanche trainning course geared directly to snowmobilers. Many of the ads and videos that promote West Yellowstone are of our guides. They have done TV show, like sledheads 24/7, ad pictures, many for West Yellowstone Chamber, they guide Ski Doo during their photo shoots for new sled and clothing magazines. They also have published articles with magazines like American Snowmobiler.

Taylor McLaughlin AKA T-MAC

” Growing up in Northeast South Dakota, snowmobiling was all I could think about in the winter months. I’ve been riding my whole life and started riding the backcountry when I was 13 as a client at Ace Powder Guides with Taylor Detienne. After the first trip out west, I knew backcountry riding was what I wanted every winter for the rest of my life, and hardly ever rode back home again. I’ll be going into my 3rd season this year with Ace and every season gets better and better! I love meeting and riding with new people every day. My favorite part about guiding is teaching people how to become more confident, technical riders, and how to do it safely by knowing how to read avalanche terrain. Come ride with me this season no matter your skill level and I promise you’ll have the time of your life while also being a better, smarter snowmobiler when you leave!”

Snowmobiling has been my life’s passion and once I was able to experience West Yellowstone and Ace Powder Guides I was instantly driven to adjust my life to pursue mountain snowmobiling at a professional level. The rich history surrounding the shop and the incredible nearby terrain made my decision to move across the country for winter an easy one.  As the newest member of the Ace family I have so many places yet to discover and so much to learn. I look forward to each day here and the adventures it will surely bring.
